GENUINE CARE. REAL CREDENTIALS. THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE MVSC, MVSC.

A gym is just a building. What makes Marble Valley Strength is the coaches.
We hire — and develop — for the things that can’t be taught from a textbook: genuine care for people, consistency in the work, the willingness to keep getting better. Then we layer on the credentials, the certifications, the science.

The result is a coaching team that doesn’t just run classes. They mentor. They notice. They remember names. They help Vermonters of every age and ability reclaim their vitality and build strength, resilience and health that lasts for life.

Certifications

CrossFit Level 3 Trainer
Licensed Massage Therapist

Certified CrossFit Trainer (Level 3) — a distinction held by only a handful of coaches in New England

Licensed Massage Therapist (NY & VT) since 1997, trained in Swedish Massage and Chinese Medicine/Shiatsu, with advanced certifications in Sports Massage and Neuromuscular Facilitation

As a kid I was the one who’d rather be in front of the TV, eating snacks, which made me “the fat kid,” and growing up heavy in the 70s and 80s was not easy. The summer before my junior year of high school, I joined the football team and got worked over, body and soul — and loved every minute of it. That was the first time I felt what my body could actually become, and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.

My journey into fitness and bodywork changed direction for good in the mid-90s, after a near-death experience pushed me toward a deeper understanding of health and healing — not just for myself, but for others. I enrolled at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in New York City, became a licensed massage therapist in 1997, and never looked back. Over the years I explored every kind of movement I could find — weightlifting, yoga, tai chi, chi gong — each one adding another layer to how I understood the body. I kept searching for something that brought it all together.

Then I found CrossFit. From my very first workout, I knew I’d found it — strength, flexibility, agility and endurance, all in one place, and genuinely fun. Not long after, on the heels of a divorce and my 40th birthday, I earned my first CrossFit coaching certification and opened what is now Marble Valley Strength and Conditioning.

I continue to pursue my craft and educate myself, sharing that with others, but titles and certifications aren’t really what matter. What matters is helping people move better, feel better and live better. That’s why I don’t just coach — I mentor. I’m continually training and developing the coaches at MVSC, making sure they have the knowledge, skill and confidence to deliver world-class coaching, so every member of our community gets the same level of care.
Outside the gym, I’m still practicing massage therapy, still gardening, hiking, splitting logs and getting outside every chance I get. I’m a lifelong jazz fan, and if you ask anyone who’s eaten my cooking, a fierce one in the kitchen too.

My whole coaching philosophy comes down to one word: Quality. Quality movement first — Quality results follow. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or just getting started, my goal is the same: guide you toward a stronger, healthier, more vibrant version of yourself.

Let’s get to work.

BUILT FOR REAL WORK.

the floor

Our training floor is set up for real work — not Instagram aesthetics. The centerpiece is a Rogue Infinity Rig with six lifting bays and over a dozen pull-up stations. From there: ten rowers, two SkiErgs, three fan bikes, three GHD setups, four climbing ropes, a full rack of dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls, and barbells and bumpers for every level of lifter who walks in.

You won’t see polished lifting platforms or a glossy mobility studio. What you’ll see is a working floor with real tools, real wear, and a coach watching every rep. And on the alley-side wall, a massive mural by Vermont artist LMNOPI — because a real space deserves real artwork.

And we don’t guess at how your body is doing. The InBody 380 scanner gives us a clear read on muscle, fat, and hydration. The Kinotek camera scans your mobility and movement quality in seconds. So when we write your program, we’re working from real information — not assumptions.

STRENGTH BUILT ON THE RIG

A Rogue Infinity Rig anchors the floor: six lifting bays and over a dozen pull-up stations. Plus barbells and bumpers for every level of lifter.

THE COACH RUNS THE FLOOR

Every class is set before you walk in: equipment positioned, timing planned, transitions dialed. When the clock starts, your work starts — no waiting, no wondering, no wasted reps.

TOOLS YOU WON’T FIND EVERYWHERE

Three GHD setups for posterior chain work. Four climbing ropes for grip and full-body strength. Seven sets of rings for gymnastic skill development.
